Slight rain and chilly breeze in Tallin, Estonia not to mention the sunny sky but still chilly gentle breeze in St. Petersburg, Russia made me decide not to set foot ashore. But today, I felt entirely different and my energy was set for some brisk walking. With my camera dangling around my neck, anyone who doesn’t know me would think that a paparazzi was in the town...LOL... Yes, I was wandering in Storetorv, the center of Ronne, after confining myself onboard for the last two ports of call. Ronne is the capital of Bornholm, an island and tourist area in southeastern Denmark, in the Baltic Sea. Ronne features colorful houses, old street lamps and 12th century churches all in one place - in an old neighborhood with winding cobblestone streets.
Port to town center takes approximately 20 minutes walk but due to my very limited time, I decided to take the shuttle bus running from the ship to the town center. Taxis are also available but rates tend to be rather expensive. Ronne has a fine reputation for being a safe place to wander, but it is always wise to be vigilant all the time, so I had my eyes and ears always on the guard.

The island of Bornholm is known for the smokehouses. Smoked, pickled and salt fried herring is one of its popular dishes and is often served with potato salad. Other popular dishes include Bornholm chicken and meat balls (Frikadellas) and I really regret not being able to taste any of these. Know why? Restaurants only accept Danish Krone and unfortunately my wallet was not that equipped...LOL....
The ship is at sea again and is now heading for Kroso, Denmark. Expected time of arrival to Kroso will be at 8AM tomorrow.
