This is Rangiroa Airport located southeast of Avatoru in Rangiroa Island. Rangiroa is one of the largest atolls in the Tuamotu Archipelago and one of the world's best shark-viewing destinations. The airport is about 15 to 20 minutes ride on my mountain bike from the small pier of Avatoru.
The airport at present connects Rangiroa to several destinations in French Polynesia on several flights on small aircrafts weekly. Built in 1965, the airport continues to play a major role in transporting most of the islands locals and tourists to and from the island.
