This is Skua Glacier in the Amalia Inlet area. Everyone’s eyes are transfixed and cameras were all set and pointed to this amazing scenery as the ship purposely made a brief stop just in front (at a safe distance of course) to the glacier.
The ship visited Skua Glacier last year (exactly on the same spot) and I noticed how obviously the glacier formation over this area has changed. Is it due to the drastic climate change particularly to this so called “green house effect”?
I know that it’s so offbeat to mention about this matter when I am suppose to focus my interest to the breathtaking view here. Well, I am just so concerned because sooner or later we all have to face its effect whether we like it or not.
Black Watch is currently cruising along Chile’s long narrow coastal inlets or fjords as she continues her way to Puerto Chacabuco, another interesting Chilean port in the itinerary. Estimated time of arrival will be tomorrow, the 11th of February 2011 at 8AM.
