Built in 1102 as a chapel, this is the enlarged fifteenth century church in Trapani, Sicily (Italy). It was dedicated to St. Lawrence and in 1639 it was completely renovated by the architect Bonaventura Certo according to his plans. In 1743, the architect G.B. Amico realized the present façade with porticated pronaos, bell tower, dome, lateral apsidal chapels and the choir. It was consecrated in 1844. The interior is decorated with frescos and Neoclassic plaster. The fourth chapel on the right is remarkable for its canvass representing the crucifixion of Christ by A. Van Djck.
