Godafoss or Waterfall of the Gods by Dex Sularte

This is Godafoss or Waterfall of the Gods on the River Skjalfandaljot. Godafoss is an impressive falls carrying huge volume of water. Waterfalls in Iceland are common. With the country’s vast resource of water power, some of its waterfalls have been utilized to use with hydroelectric dams to generate power.

The waterfall is one of the popular tourist spots in Akureyri, the capital in northern Iceland located at the innermost end of Iceland’s longest fjord, Eyjafjordur. The fjord is 60 km long and is surrounded by mountains. The ship berthed at Akureyri’s main cruise berth, Oddeyrarbryggja which is just a walking distance to the town center. Getting to the waterfalls from the cruise terminal took no less than one hour on the coach. Well, I believe the coach driver can make better and faster speed if not for the foggy visibility condition along the road, as the tour guide said – SAFETY FIRST.
