I normally have yogurt, assortment of fresh tropical fruits and ice cold pineapple juice for breakfast. But during the past three days since the ship had crossed the Arctic Circle and continue heading northwards, my healthful diet (as my colleagues referred to it) eventually shifted to something I call free-style diet – which means eat-as-you-like. So, I have my favorite fried rice, fried egg, marinated beef or pork and the drink that I dreaded most – espresso. This strong black coffee more often than not denied me for a good and descent sleep. I always avoided coffee but for now the coffee seems getting more and more irresistible. I blame it to this frigid arctic weather. The ship is currently here at the port of Honningsvaag, Norway. It’s still summer season but the temperature bluntly suggests winter. Well, this just seems to be the typical summer up here in the northernmost part of Norway.

Honningsvaag is the northernmost city of Norway – just few hundred miles to the North Pole. At this time, the sun never sits here offering sunlight all day and all night long – a very efficient and nature’s very own way to minimize usage of electricity...LOL... Even in the best “Midnight Sun”, wind blowing from the North Pole is chilly, so warm and wind proof clothing or the “anorak” is the most comfortable clothing to wear. If the temperature is a bit warmer, I would be visiting one or two of Honningsvag’s popular tourist sites. These include the North Cape, Bird Safari, Crab Safari and Honningsvag’s Historical Museum. Ship is presently heading for Alta, Norway. We’ll be there tomorrow at 7AM. The sea is slightly rough as of now but anytime soon this will ease away.
