This is Ozamis City airport, the airport closest to my town and is about one hour and 30 minutes flight to and from Manila. Previously, Philippine Airlines had regular flights in this airport but eventually when the company suffered financial crisis, the flight schedule was sealed off as part of the airline’s rehabilitation program. When the airport reopened for commercial service in July 8, 2007, Air Philippines, one of Philippine's fastest growing budget airline made the inaugural flight to Ozamis City from Manila. Air Philippines is serving this route in partnership with PAL. And very recently, Cebu Pacific Air opened its doors to serve more flights from Ozamis Airport to Manila as well as flights to and from Cebu City. The airport’s reopening is really a big thing for everyone from my hometown and its surrounding municipalities. Ozamis City is just less than an hour or more from where I live and that is obviously a big difference considering the 3 to 4 hours drive to Cagayan de Oro City.
