M/S Paul Gauguin arrived Bora Bora from Nuku Hiva very much early than the scheduled time which captain jokingly referred to as “world record”. Well, he is right because as far as I can remember, the ship had never arrived Bora Bora that early. As early as 5:30PM, the ship dropped anchor at Vaitape Bay in a fine weather, perfect for the crew party that was held ashore later in the evening on a place famous of being “famous” – the Bloody Mary’s. All crew were all set for the party that took place at Bloody Mary’s including me. I managed to escape attending parties on the ship but this one seemed to be very irresistible one. After few days

at sea and not being able to step on land put on me some stress and the party was what seemed to be the answer to loosen up. I went with the first tender that left the ship at 10:30PM. The 10-minute ride to Bloody Mary’s was lively and very “musical” as the “Les Gauguins” or the Tahitian hostesses lead the singing of a popular tune “You Are My Sunshine” with their guitars that eventually set off everyone onboard the tender to join them in their singing.

This is the wharf of Bloody Mary’s exclusively for the restaurant’s patrons. Bora Bora has several hotel resorts located on small islands and the only way for hotel guests to go to Bloody Mary’s for a romantic dinner is by boat. From where the boat was tied-up, the wharf’s wooden planks extends about a hundred meters towards the shore where on the opposite side of the road is the world famous Bloody Mary’s. With me in the inset photo are my colleagues and at the background is the ship’s tender secured to the wharf. I just got off from the tender with the rest of the crew.

If Hollywood has names of celebrities engraved on a star in the sidewalk, well Bora Bora has a unique version for that too. Bloody Mary’s is very popular not just for its fresh local and international seafood cuisine, but also because Bloody Mary's is most visited among Hollywood celebrities. Right at this wooden board here are names of celebrities who had visited and had dined in Bloody Mary’s were written. Let me call this - Bora Bora’s Board of Fame. I may have visited Bloody Mary’s but instead of waiting for my name to be written on this board (which obviously will never happen…hahahaha…) this photo here with Bloody Mary’s two staffs worth more than the true value of finding my name at the board of fame. Are you searching for someone’s name? Well, take a closer look with a hand lens or magnifying glass because obviously, the names here are so tiny that even myself find it difficult to read as well. Alternately, you can email me or drop a comment so I can send to you the larger photo.

Bloody Mary’s reveals its authentic Polynesian atmosphere in some ways that would make every guests or travelers remember what French Polynesia is all about - thatched roof, white sand floorings, wooden chairs and tables and a very simple yet impressive bar counter.

This is Bloody Mary’s outer shell. The facade is very simple and this is how it should be to reflect a genuine Polynesian style construction. Bloody Mary’s also sells souvenir items like baseball caps, t-shirts, key chains and plenty other stuff. I bought a baseball cap that costs me 35 dollars. Expensive though but I still bought it for souvenir.
