Copacabana Beach PDF Print E-mail
Sparkling sand and mosaic sidewalks… this is Copacabana Beach one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in the world. Situated in the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Copacabana Beach welcomes visitors with its 4-kilometer long stretch of sparkling white sand beaches bordering its coastline fronting the open seas of the South Atlantic Ocean. As the tour guide mentioned as we passed by Copacabana as part of the leg during the tour to Corcovado that I escorted three days ago, Copacabana district after dark is brighter than daylight as bars and night clubs in addition to waterfront hotels and restaurants just across its Portuguese-influenced pavement landscape transformed Copacabana to a glowing and full of life night spot. Copacabana district is the center for tourists as well as home to many of Rio de Janeiro’s hotels and beautiful beaches. Copacabana Beach during the night is also swamped with night swimmers, pulsating beach disco parties and at times, concerts. Copacabana Beach has been the site for huge concerts by popular music icons Rod Stewart, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz and the Rolling Stones.

The day before the ship left Rio de Janeiro, I went around the city once more and of course I went again to Copacabana Beach to fully catch these amazing sights typical of a beach resort. no…no…no… Just kidding. Truthfully I intentionally went to Copacabana Beach but just to take few photos of Copacabana Palace Hotel. Unfortunately, the sight of women clad in g-string, bikinis…whatever that is, was everywhere and was so inescapable. Sorry but there’s nothing much I can do beyond my control…LOL… Copacabana Palace Hotel is a luxurious five star beachfront hotel in Rio de Janeiro. So contrasting with the rest of plush hotels found in Rio de Janeiro, the Copacabana Palace Hotel is architecturally distinctive. The hotel’s design looks a lot like of those old buildings very prominent in Portugal, Spain and Germany.
Four hours before sailing time, I was onboard the ship and in my cabin having a restful sleep. The ship bid farewell to the beautiful Rio de Janeiro before 6PM on the 1st of February and made a slight diversion from its original track going out from the port of Rio de Janeiro in such a way to allow passengers onboard to glimpse the breathtaking scenery of the Sugar Loaf Mountain, the overlooking Christ the Redeemer statue crowning Corcovado Mountain and of course to see once more the beautiful beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. We are at sea again and is now heading to Montevideo, Uruguay.
