Look at these gorgeous ladies on the catwalk! Actually, they are all moms in their most challenging moment in front of the crowd. Who would have thought that these home makers from different barangays in the municipality of Baroy, Lanao del Norte could make this special day for women very remarkable. In this chance of a lifetime event, you can see moms representing their respective barangays in their best vying to win for the title Ginang KALIPI 2009. This was the main event for this years Women’s Month culmination held in Baroy Plaza on March 9, 2009. By the way, KALIPI is an acronym for Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina. For the people of Baroy (everywhere perhaps), it’s uncommon to witness this kind of event, so when moms started to show off their most provocative act on stage, loud applause from the crowd resonates all over the town’s plaza. My wife of course can be among these women on the catwalk too but I guess on a different level…(just kidding)… Anyway, to all moms in the world, I bit you all can do this most challenging act in your own unique way.

Obviously, this year’s culmination is more upbeat compared to the previous culminations of Women’s Month in the history of Baroy. My wife being the present president of WABC, persistently looked for some creative ideas that would make this year’s celebration of Women’s Month a bit different compared to the previous celebrations. So to bring her more ambitious vision to reality, she came up with this idea – a fun filled sort of beauty pageant wherein the contestants were no other than but housewives representing their own barangay. So this was it and undoubtedly, it turned out so well. Actually, the officers and members of Women’s Association Baroy Chapter were the women behind the success of this affair. Their support and active participation to the program from start to finish contributed to the success of the event.

I noticed how actively my wife played her part in this event. First, I saw her at the backstage before the show started rolling (probably doing the final briefing for the contestants), then next, I saw her again at the front stage when the moms started their “very own” show. She’s the one handling the choreography so apparently she just wanted to see that everything runs well and smoothly. Still, her role doesn’t end there because the inset photo here shows my wife among with other moms performing a Ricky Martin dance tune. I managed to take video of their number but I failed to upload the video on You Tube due to internet connectivity problem at home during that time. The problem was fixed three days after I left home and gone back to work. I should have blamed SMART Broadband for that…hehehe….

Dance and choral presentations from member barangays also gained lots of applause from the crowd. I missed to watch the presentation from some of the barangays but I did not miss these presentations below. This one on the left is Brgy. Sto. Nino Village’s fearless sex bomb dancers…LOL… in which my wife (…again…) also did the choreography. The rest of the photos below were presentations from other barangays. There were few other more but sorry to say I missed their part.

The women in the municipality of Baroy, Lanao del Norte have just seen the beginning of a new way to observe Women’s Month. So to all the women of Baroy and its member barangays, look forward for next year because the present president and the whole team of Women’s Association Baroy Chapter are deeply committed and obviously always on the course of thinking better and creative ideas just to make this special month for women an even more exciting and memorable one.
