A cruise ship is a passenger ship used for pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship's amenities are part of the experience. These vessels normally have duty free and souvenir shops, swimming pools, Jacuzzi, casinos, theaters, library, fitness gym, health spa, fine dining restaurants, coffee and cocktail bars and luxurious passenger accommodations. Cruise ships implement security measures very seriously. Passengers are given personal identification card which is swiped to an electronic card reader every time a passenger gets on and off the ship. Crew cards are issued to every crew member for the duration of the contract which is also swiped every time a crew member goes ashore and comes back onboard. CCTV, metal detectors and x-rays are also fitted onboard to further enhance the security of the ship in general. Additionally, some ships even have the so called LRADs to deter pirates.
