In downtown Cebu City, thousands of people visit the Sto. Nino Church everyday. The church is widely known throughout the country as well as to the whole world most especially the much celebrated Sinulog Festival where the highlight of the event is the miraculous Sto. Nino. In the southern part in the island of Cebu, the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist has over the years becoming very popular among Cebuanos and devotees of the Blessed Virgin Mother across the country as well. The Monastery of the Holy Eucharist is the home of the image of the miraculous Virgin Mother. The monastery is situated in Lindogon, Simala in the municipality of Sibonga. The trip to the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist will take about an hour trip from Cebu City. Everyday, close to a thousand or more people from all walks of life, rich or poor visit the monastery. I’ve been to Cebu a number of times but this (together with my family) was my very first time to pay a visit to the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist. My family was here last May 18, 2008 when I signed off from the ship. Hopefully, I could bring my family to the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist again soon. Getting to the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist Take the south bound bus from Cebu City marked Bato or Oslob and tell the driver to have you drop in Simala, Sibonga. From Simala, tricycle will bring you to Lindogon where the monastery is located. If you are not so sure, you can always asked the friendly locals of Simala for instructions in getting to the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist.
