Typhoon Ondoy has just left Philippines in ruins leaving thousands of Filipinos homeless. The whole Metro Manila was transformed to a “water world” in just few hours of heavy downpour of rain. Jeepneys, taxis and buses consequently became futile as knee deep water flooded the streets and highways. Yesterday, some shopping malls were closed except for few food chains and convenience stores that continue to operate 24 hours. As of this afternoon, few jeepneys, taxis and buses were seen operating the streets and highways as water level in some flooded areas goes down and passable for vehicles. I am still here in Manila and obviously one of those who were stranded yesterday. Flights were cancelled, so I am stuck here in the hotel. |
